Mother's Day
Waffles Make up a batch of the following waffle recipe:
Easy Bisquick Waffles
2 c Bisquick
1 1/2 c Milk
3 tb Sugar
4 tb Oil
2 Eggs
Mix together the bisquick, milk, sugar, oil, and eggs; blend well.
Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the waffles. Bake in a waffle
iron until steaming stops.
If you don't have time to make homemade waffles, just toast a few frozen
waffles.
Serve with butter and maple syrup; or fresh fruit topped with whipped cream
(sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the whipped cream.
Mother's Day
Fingerpaints Make up a batch of strawberry pudding.
Let the kids create special mothers day pictures for mom.
Heart-shaped
Mother's Day Cake Bake a two-layer cake using your favorite
storebought or homemade recipe. One layer is placed in an 8" round pan,
and the other layer in a 8" square pan.
Cover a large piece of cardboard with tinfoil, since this cake will be
bigger than a normal-sized platter will hold.
Remove from oven and set aside; allow cakes to cool completeley.
Cut the round cake in two equal halves.
Place the square cake so it's diamond shaped: <>
Place each semi-circle against the top sides of the diamond so it resemble a
heart.
Cover the entire cake with your favorite frosting.
Put on the finishing touches as desired. Some ideas would be to pipe on a
special mother's day poem or message for mom; draw a picture on the cake,
decorate with Hershey's kisses, candy hearts, etc. (be creative).
Kool-Aid Play Dough
1 cup flour
1/4 cup salt
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
1 package unsweetened Kool-Aid
1 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar and Kool-Aid in a medium pot. Add water and
oil.
Stir over medium heat for about 4 minutes.
When mixture forms a ball in pot, remove.
Knead until smooth. Put in a plastic bag and refrigerate.
Use playdough to create figures or messages for mom on Mother's Day.
Easy Mother's Day
Pancakes Make up a batch of the following pancake recipe:
Easy Mother's Day Blender Pancakes
1 ea Egg
1 ea Egg white
1 1/2 c Plain low-fat yogurt
3 tb Vegetable oil
1 c All-purpose flour
1/4 c Sugar
1 1/2 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Baking soda
1/4 ts Salt
1 c Rolled oats
A few drops red food coloring (optional)
Combine the egg, egg white, yogurt and oil in blender; blend until smooth.
Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt; blend. Add the
oats and food coloring, if using; whirl briefly just to mix.
Place heart-shaped cookie cutters on the griddle (use whatever sized cookie
cutters you'd like).
Pour in the pancake batter.
As soon as the pancakes are nicely bubbling on the top and have taken the
shape of the hearts, remove the cookie cutters.
Serve with butter and maple or fruit syrup; or fruit and whipped topping,
your choice.
For a Souper
Mom Make mom a bowl of soup, either storebought or homemade.
Make up a Mother's Day card by folding a piece of heavy constuction paper in
half.
Decorate the card by using any kind of stickers, on hearts, stars, etc. Make
fancy designs or pictures using crayons or felt pens.
Write on the front of the card "For a Souper Mom!!".
Turn the card to the inside and write inside such things as:
Souper Nice Mom
Souper Cool Mom
Souper Special Mom
Souper Neat Mom
#1 Souper Mom
Souper Bestest Mom, etc..
