Easter Eggs

Place hard-boiled eggs in a solution of food colouring with a few drops of vinegar added. Soak the eggs until they're the shade you like.

 

Bubby Bubbles

  • 1/4 c Liquid detergent
  • 2 1/2 ts Sugar
  • 9 tb Oil
  • Food coloring
  • 2 3/4 qt Water

Mix ingredients together. Shake of dissolve sugar. Use with empty spool, straw, bubble pipe, or wire blower.

 

Bubble Recipe

  • 1 c Joy or Dawn Dishwasing Detergent
  • 2 c WARM water
  • 3 tb Glycerin
  • 1/2 ts Sugar

Mix together and store in an air tight container. Item to use to "blow" bubbles: plastic strawberry basket, colander, platic six pack holder, funnel, plastic straw cut on a slant, tape several straws together, paper cup with a hole punched in the bottom will make giant bubbles.

 

Bread Play Dough for Easter - INEDIBLE CRAFTS

  • 4 slices of Bread
  • 3 tb White Glue
  • 2 dr Lemon or lime juice

Remove crusts from bread. Tear into small pieces. Mix with glue and juice. Knead.

 

Easter Cinnamon Ornaments

  • 1 c Applesauce
  • 1 oz Cinnamon
  • 1 oz ground. cloves
  • 1 oz ground nutmeg
  • 1 oz ground. ginger
  • Cinnamon for cutting board

Combine ingredients to make a stiff dough.

Roll out on board dusted with ground cinnamon. Cut with cookie cutters of your choice.

Put hole in top for string. Lay out flat to dry. Turn over every 12 hours until completely dry.

 

Gooey Glue

  • 3 tb Cornstarch
  • 4 tb Cold water
  • 2 c Boiling water

Mix cornstarch dissolved in the water.

Pour into pan with the boiling water, stirring constantly until it becomes clear and thickened. Let cool and pour into a plastic container.

 

Goop (make your own Slime)

  • 1 Part Liquid starch
  • 2 Part Elmer's Glue
  • Food Coloring (optional.)

Mix and enjoy. It's supposed to be like slime.

 

Easter Spice Potpourrie

  • 4 Oranges
  • 4 Lemons
  • 1/2 c Whole cloves
  • 1/2 c Whole allspice
  • 10 Cinnamon Sticks, broken
  • 10 Bay leaves, crumbled
  • 8 oz Decorated jelly jars with bands & lids

Using a vegetable peeler, peel fruit carefully, removing only the peel, not any of the white pith. cut or tear into one inch pieces.

Spread peel on paper towel lined pan. place in preheated oven to 175, or set oven to WARM. Dry in oven for 1 1/2 hours, tossing occasionally. Peels should be leathery and/or slightly crunchy.

Spread peels on dry paper towels and let air dry for 24 hours.

Combine with remaining ingredients. Fill jars with mixture, place lids on and screw bands on tightly.

Yield: 3 or 4 half pint jars.

To use: remove lid and leave band on for decoration to fragrance a room. OR put one tablespoon into a jar and fill jar with boiling water to release fragrance.

 

Easter Sparkle Ornaments

Trace cookie cutter shapes onto paper. Place waxed paper over design. Outline design with glue. Coat surface with glue & fill with glitter. Let set. Shake off extra glitter. Let dry (may take several days).

Cut out and do the same to the reversed side.

Make hole in top with point of scissors and run a loop of thread or ribbon to use as hanger.

 

Clay for Easter Ornaments

  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 1/4 cups cold water
  • 2 cups baking soda
  • food coloring (optional)

Add the cornstarch, water, and baking soda in a medium saucepan and stir over medium heat for about 5 minutes.

Add food coloring, if using.

Remove from heat, turn on a plate and cover with a damp cloth. Let cool.

When cool knead like you would bread dough. Store in an airtight container.

Shape clay into whatever ornaments and shapes you desire.

 

Growing Easter Baskets

Take empty 1/2 gallon milk cartons and cut down to about 4" high. With the leftover carton, cut a handle to staple to the basket.

Cover with construction paper and decorate as desired.

Fill about 2/3 full with potting soil, then generously cover with grass seed.

Water daily; grass will appear in  4-6 days.

Fill easter basket with decorated eggs.
